Man Walks free from court after shooting his father
A Zimbabwean man based in Harare is one happy man when a local court found him not guilty after he shot his father twice as they fought for a woman.
According to court reports, Edward Radzaka(31) shot his father on both legs after he tried to attack him with a machete over allegations that he was bedding his stepmother.
Edward was facing an attempted murder charge, alternatively negligent discharge of a gun.
Harare magistrate Mr Noel Mupeiwa found him not guilty on both charges.
Radzokota was given back his gun licence but the gun, a 7.65mm CZ pistol was given to the Zimbabwe Republic Police and its return to Edward was postponed sine die.
The court ruled that Radzokota was justified to use a gun as he was cornered and provoked by his father who wanted to harm him.
It was further established that he used reasonable force in self defence and was therefore not guilty of attempted murder.
