Shocking Hospital bill: A road accident victim is required to pay $32 699.19 upfront

A road traffic accident victim is required to pay $32 699.19 upfront in order to receive medical attention and surgery at Mater Dei Hospital in Bulawayo? That’s the equivalent for a down payment for a house in Marlborough.

$540 for 4 pints of blood? Many can barely afford to pay that in rent. When are we going to admit that there is no more healthcare in this country? Who has $30K sitting around for the day they get involved in an accident?
Bear in mind, the maximum you can get out of the bank is 150th of 30 000. The citizens’ position is compounded by the fact that there are only 2, I said TWO, orthopaedic surgeons in Bulawayo. Surely this is woefully inadequate gor a city of the size and stature of Bulawayo? This must be addressed all the way down to the root.
