Investigation : Hijackers kill taxi driver, drive away in his car

 MUTOKO: Police here are investigating the death of a taxi driver who was recently found in a bush with six stab wounds in a suspected murder case.

Police sources in the district have confirmed the death of Tendai Shamba, 40, of Uni Village in Mutoko whose body was discovered in a bush by Effliem Muchemwa, 30, of Village 59 from the same area.

According to the police, officers from Mutoko police who attended the scene discovered that Shamba had a belt tied around his neck while he had three stab wounds on the waist and three others to the back of the neck.

A knife believed to have been used in committing the murder was also discovered at the scene.

Shamba was employed as a taxi driver by Owen Chirinda, 27, of ARDA in Mutoko and the Toyota Raum he was driving has yet to be recovered.

It is believed that his attackers drove away in the missing vehicle.

Shamba’s body was taken to Mutoko hospital for a post mortem but the police sources were not privy to the outcome of the results although Shamba has since been buried at his rural home.
