Webster Shamu defends MSU Masters’ degree thesis
FORMER communications Minister, Webster Shamu, was, last Friday, among students who were defending their thesis at Midlands State University for a masters’ degree in marketing.
Shamu lost his cabinet and party posts in 2014 after being linked to former Vice President Joice Mujuru’s alleged bid to oust President Robert Mugabe.
The former Zanu PF political commissar and MP for Chegutu East enrolled for the course last year.
On Friday, he could be seen busy with other post graduate students as he waited to appear before a panel of examining committee to defend his research project.
Should he be successful in his studies, Shamu expects to be capped by Mugabe before the end of this year.
Although he could not be reached for comment on Friday, last year Shamu told us to leave him alone asking if he was “not allowed to live a private life” in pursuing academic studies.
A veteran journalist, Shamu is serving a three year suspension from Zanu PF for his alleged link to Mujuru.
Shamu is also a businessman with interests in various sectors of the economy including fuel, transport and retail, among others.
Last year, speaker of the Parliament, Jacob Mudenda, urged MPs to improve their education so that they could competently debate policy issues in the national assembly as well as to enable them to efficiently discharge their duties.
