Obert Gutu: Only regime change can save Zimbabwe
THE Morgan Tsvangirai led MDC says the only way to mend the country’s dilapidated economy is to intensify the regime change agenda which the party is spearheading.
MDC-T spokesperson, Obert Gutu, told a Mass Public Opinion Institute (MPOI) public seminar in Harare recently that if Zimbabweans continue to fold their hands high unemployment and the economic woes will worsen.
“We are in a real messy, and what do we have to do to redeem ourselves from this mess?
“The way forward is simple-its regime change! Ladies and gentlemen, Cdes and friends, I am a regime change agent and I do take pride in that and for as long as Zanu PF is in power forget about national development,” he said.
Gutu said Zimbabweans should rise and resist the introduction of bond notes, saying the “hated” currency was meant to impoverish the majority.
“They say if you are not at the table you are on the menu. We will continue to be on the menu and right now we are on the menu. We are being eaten by Zanu PF, and this is the problem we have in the country,” said Gutu.
The MDC-T spokesperson said it was sad that President Robert Mugabe will be running again in the 2018 Presidential election.
“I have absolutely nothing personally with Mr Mugabe; he is my nephew, his mother is our Auntie, but what we are saying is please my nephew at the age of 93 you should go and rest. You have had your time, having spent more than 50 years in politics; surely you should go to Gushungo Estates and rest,” said Gutu.
He added, “We are hearing all the Zanu PF provinces stampeding to endorse him for 2018,then I was asking myself that surely the gods must be crazy, and that is the problem we have in this country and for as long as Zanu PF remains in power we are in trouble.”
The MPOI seminar ran under the title “Ups and Downs of 2016 and a Trajectory for 2017”.
